Damn you, The Clash!

Yeah.... How many posts do I have on here now that start out with damn you? I apologize, bands I have damned. It is just a figure of speech. I hope you are not damned.

Anyway, the reason the Clash is irritating me: I have always been able to count on not liking the Clash. I've had my ups and downs with various punk bands (and by that I mean real punk, not the pop punk and emo I spend all my time listening to). All the time I will buy into a punk band (Okay, only three times, The Ramones, The Sex Pistols, Richard Hell) because for some reason I hear their stuff a couple of times and am liking it, and then buy something of theirs and then realize I don't like it and am all, "crap, why did I just buy that? I don't like them at all." But the Clash, I was always annoyed by the guy's voice or something. I was firmly in the anti-Clash camp. There was no shaking me on this.

But.... someone brought The Clash into work the other day, and it sounded good. Damn you, the Clash! I know it is just an illusion! I know I won't like you, once I buy something of yours! Do not toy with me, The Clash. I used to be able to count on not liking you!

And on top of that, I have too many new CD's I'm trying to listen to right now to be adding The Clash to this. I'm only finally listening to Better Than Ezra's new one, and BTE's one of my favorite bands ever, because I was shamed by Ryan's list. And it IS good so far! I SHOULD be listening to it! Not The Clash! I am too poppy for The Clash! I should know this by now!

I guess I can resist. The one The Clash song I particularly like is Rudie Can't Fail, and I do happen to have that on a compilation album. So I DO listen to it all the time now, thus interfering with my trying to listen to Better Than Ezra and all my other new music, but at least I didn't go out and buy anything. Also: I do have a quite good cover of some Clash song by Saves the Day that I also listen to compulsively now. So, that's enough The Clash to hold me over and keep me from doing something rash, right?

Right?

Yay! Ryan finally put up his "Best Albums of 2005" list, which I eagerly await each year. You should read it too. But be warned, he is uncool.

(So am I though. I agree with about half of it. And that includes the props for Lifehouse.)

So, there's this Talking Heads song I totally love, I think it's called Wild Wild Life. And I love it. But when I'm not actually listening to it, and I think about it, all I can hear is Better Than Ezra's "Good." I'm not even making this up. Like, my brain tries to trick me and instead of "It was good living with you wah-ah" it's like, "wild wild life wa-ah." What is up with this? These songs are not even similar.

Also: I FINALLY saw something in the promos that I wanted last night. Of course: I had bought the CD already (it was Marty Casey and the Lovehammers). Son of a bitch. What are the odds?

Lastly: If you are not Nada Surf or Sufjan Stevens, I do not want to hear anything from you. That's all there is to say.

Phoemeister: in other news, I couldn't bear to give Ben Folds more money for something I don't need by him
Sui: and what would that be?
Phoemeister: so I'm going to make my parentspay him more money for something I don't need by him for my birthday
Phoemeister: Ben Folds and WASO live in Perth DVD
Sui: haha
Sui: good call
Phoemeister: live DVD's are awful
Phoemeister: I hate myself
Phoemeister: but I still have to have it
Sui: that is kind of like porn
Sui: because I know you will touch yourself while watching it
Phoemeister: LOL
Phoemeister: you'll touch yourself while I watch it
Sui: only because I know you're touching yourself
Phoemeister: really? because studies show that you touch yourself so often I can make that claim about nearly anything and it'll be true because you'll just happen to be touching yourself at the same moment
Sui: haha
Sui: you'ev got me there
Phoemeister: so, here's the best part of this conversation
Phoemeister: I am totally listening to christian rock right now
Sui: haha
Phoemeister: true story

Phoemeister: I don't know what Morrisey sounds like
Sui: and you call yourself a music lover
Phoemeister: a music lover with a gap that goes from 1970 to 1996
Sui: the song is called "how soon is now"
Phoemeister: not heard of it
Sui: that's because you don't listen to 80's music ; P
Phoemeister: also because I have the gap
Phoemeister: seriously though
Phoemeister: I've not even heard Stairway to Heaven
Sui: yeah you're gay
Phoemeister: when are the Talking Heads from?
Sui: the fuuuuuture of course
Phoemeister: anyway, a coworker gave me some Talking Heads, so that will help the gap
Phoemeister: a little
Sui: haha a little
Phoemeister: it'll be a drop in the bucket
Phoemeister: then you'll make me listen to a bunch of The Cure
Phoemeister: and I'll be all caught up
Sui: I'll make you cry like a little girl listening to the cure
Phoemeister: lol
Phoemeister: didn't you send me one the cure song?
Sui: yeah
Phoemeister: I would listen to it now if I had any idea where I put it on my computer
Phoemeister: all I remember is that I was not that impressed
Phoemeister: OUCH
Phoemeister: sucks to be you
Sui: hahah
Sui: burn

Phoemeister: I also just added the cure song to my playlist
Phoemeister: because I found it
Sui: nice
Phoemeister: woo
Phoemeister: it doesn't suck as much as I remember
Phoemeister: maybe the more you listen to the cure the more you like it
Phoemeister: and the more you cry
Phoemeister: and the more you cry the more you like it
Sui: haha yeah probably
Phoemeister: and the more you like it the mroe you cry
Sui: I AM SO HAPPY THAT I AM SAD
Phoemeister: LOL

Phoemeister: now I'm listening to it
Phoemeister: hahahah
Phoemeister: it's like if reggae met
Phoemeister: the beverly hills cop theme song
Phoemeister: met 90's dance
Sui: hahah
Sui: yes
Phoemeister: I want to have babies with this song
Phoemeister: so that the babies would be like reggae met the beverly hills cop theme song met 90s dance met Phoemeister
Sui: hahah

Phoemeister: aww, I'm flattered
Sui: well it's not really a compliment
